Chipotle Fried Apples combines the warmth of cinnamon and sugar with a surprising kick of smoky chipotle for a flavor fusion you won’t forget. Fresh apples are dusted with the perfect blend of cinnamon, sugar and then fried to golden, caramelized perfection in an oil blended with chipotle.

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup white sugar (granulated)
- 2½ teaspoons cinnamon (ground)
- 2 granny smith apples (washed, diced medium)
- 2 red delicious apples (washed, diced medium)
- 2 honeycrisp apples (washed, diced medium)
- 1/3 cup lemon juice (fresh)
- 4 tablespoons avocado oil
- 2 teaspoons chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (pureed)
- 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions
PREPARE APPLES.
- Prepare a Lemon Water Bath. Fill a large mixing bowl halfway with water. Add 1/3 cup lemon juice with the lemon halves into the water. Dice unpeeled 2 granny smith apples, 2 red delicious apples, 2 honeycrisp apples and place them into the lemon water to prevent browning.
PREPARE CHIPOTLES.
- Puree the chipotle sauce. Place all of the chipotle peppers with adobo sauce into a small cup blender, immersion blender, food processor or chopper. Blend until smooth. Store unused mixture in the refrigerator or freezer for future use.
DRAIN AND TOSS APPLES IN CINNAMON SUGAR.
- Make the Cinnamon Sugar Coating. In a separate bowl, mix the 3/4 cup white sugarr and 2½ teaspoons cinnamon until well combined.
- Drain and Dry the Apples. Drain the apples from the lemon water and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Place the apples in a medium bowl.
- Toss the Apples. Add the cinnamon sugar mixture to the apples and stir until the apples are coated.
COOK APPLES.
- Cook the Apples. Before cooking, prepare the apples according to the batch size: halve them for a single batch, quarter them for a double batch, and cut them into eighths for a triple batch. This will help ensure that the apples caramelize evenly in the skillet.Each batch. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons avocado oil over medium-high heat. Add 1 teaspoon pureed chipotle peppers to the oil. Add the pre-measured coated apples to the skillet and cook, stirring often, until the coating is thick and caramelized. This should take about approximately 6 minutes ⏱️ . Transfer the cooked apples into a bowl and set aside. Continue to the next batch until all the apples are cooked.
HEAT AND SERVE.
- Combine and Serve. Turn off the heat and add the previously cooked apples back into the skillet with the last batch to ensure they are all thoroughly heated. Add 1/4 tsp salt and stir the apples together until well combined and evenly coated.
